Australian Living Appeals to Liev Schreiber

April 29, 2009 by lkatulka

Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber may spend most of their time in the Big Apple, but that might not be the case for much longer! As their sons Alexander, 21 months, and Samuel, 4 months, grow the couple find relocating to Naomi’s native Australia more appealing.

“I was able to get into a rhythm and I got a feel for the lifestyle and the quality of life there,” said the 41-year-old actor, who recently shot Wolverine in the country. “It’s just unbeatable, plus if you’re raising kids, I can’t imagine a better place.”

Of course, a move to Australia won’t help Liev escape the dreaded paparazzi. The usually even-tempered actor says the birth of his son inspired his hatred for celebrity snappers.

“I was fine until ‘Sasha’ came along and then I started to get aggro,” he said. “As an actor, I think I’d never kind of reached the heights of fame that Naomi had, and so when she came into my life it was a real test on our relationship.”

“I didn’t like that she was bringing all that attention with her and I think I probably blamed her for it in the beginning. But after a while, I acclimated to it and then, of course, Sasha was born and I had to acclimate to it all over again.”

Liev notes that “some days are better than others,” seemingly resigned to living his days in the public eye.

“As long as people can make money doing it, they’re going to do it and you have to deal with it,” he adds.

With flourishing American careers, it’s likely that no matter where they’re based, the couple will continue to criss-cross the globe for many years to come!

“We’re like circus people, we like to travel. I was really proud of the fact that Sasha had been to 10 countries by the time he was only eight months old.”

That’s more than most of us I’ll wager!

Jade Goody’s Sons Prepare for Aussie Vacation

March 30, 2009 by lkatulka

The sons of the late British reality TV star Jade Goody are heading to Australia to escape the sadness of their mother’s funeral. 27-year-old Jade passed away a week ago after suffering from cervical cancer, and will be buried next weekend.

Five-year-old Bobby and four-year-old Freddie will leave on Monday with their father, television personality Jeff Brazier. They plan to visit the Gold Coast in Queensland and friends in Melbourne, Victoria.

”To say the boys are excited is the understatement of the year,” a source told The News of the World. ”They keep saying: ‘Daddy, when are we going, when can we see the kangaroos?’ Jeff knows how much they loved their mother but he feels they need to get right away from the media glare. You can’t get much further away than Australia.”

The vacation is in keeping with Jade’s wishes that the boys not attend the funeral. Instead she hoped they would “remember their mum as she was.”

The funeral will be held at a church near her home in Essex, south-east England, on April 4.

Rachel Griffiths Ready for a “Potluck” Baby

January 22, 2009 by lkatulka

With son Banjo and daughter Adelaide at home, Rachel Griffiths will opt for a delivery surprise this time around.

“I found out with the first two. So, I’ve got one of each. I have got a boy. I have got a girl and we are up for the potluck,” she told Access Hollywood.

Both her children have Australian-inspired names, with Banjo named after the poet Banjo Patterson and Adelaide named after the South Australian state capital. But we shouldn’t necessarily expect another homage to Rachel’s homeland.

“It’s tough now. I’m less oriented to finding an Australian eccentric name I should say. I actually do love the name America.”

Rachel expects her third child with husband Andrew Taylor in July. They may not have their hearts set on an Aussie baby name, but they certainly haven’t forgotten their roots. Rachel and Andrew were amongst the guests at the G’Day USA celebrations in Los Angeles earlier this week.

Nicole says her first Christmas with baby girl Sunday Rose will feature “a lot of hugs and kisses and Christmas carols.” She said her daughter “loves puppets,” so she’s bought her one which looks like a turtle!

Hugh Jackman, his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, and kids Oscar, 8, and Ava, 3, will be busy in New York City.

“I’ll be going to the Nutcracker, I’ll be going to Rockefeller Plaza, I’ll be going to the Rockettes, maybe catch a Knicks game or two,” he told People.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Take Sunday Down Under

August 7, 2008 by lkatulka

Nicole Kidman has pleaded for privacy on her first visit to Sydney since giving birth last month. Nic touched down in Sydney last night with husband Keith Urban and newborn daughter Sunday Rose.

“Keith and I are both appealing to the press and stuff just to give us a little space so we can walk around Sydney and show the baby our town,” Nicole said in a radio interview this morning.

“She’s tiny. She’s like a doll, she’s like a little, little thing. Just [don't photograph] right in her face or in our faces because it’s scary for her.”

“I get it. I get the interest there is,” added daddy Keith Urban. “But at the same time it’s our little girl. Sometimes when people come right up in your face and you think: ‘Good God, would you do that to anybody else’s child?’ That’s all.”

We’re all desperate for a photo of little Sunday so we can see her for ourselves, but her proud parents have revealed a few details about her appearance.

Nicole said her daughter looks just like her father, with a “bit of a reddish tint” to her hair. How cute!

Keith also said being a dad was an “awesome” feeling.

“Anybody out there who’s got kids [knows] it’s just a certain kind of feeling that you can only experience when you do it,” he said. “I’m not looking forward to having to go on tour and having to leave.”

Nicole also gave a little insight into her labor, adding that the presence of family made her delivery a little easier.

“They say a lot of it has to do with how your sister and your mother gave birth, so luckily my sister’s had four children … and that was pretty easy for her too,” she said.

“My mum was a nurse too and also she’s a midwife so we were surrounded … but we also had wonderful nurses at the hospital.”

Nicole and Keith will spend their time in Australia with family, although it’s not just a pleasure trip. Nic will soon be back on set to shoot the final scenes for her upcoming movie Australia.

Nicole Kidman Cried Over Ultrasound

June 19, 2008 by lkatulka

Nicole Kidman said she was moved to tears by the first sight of her baby on an ultrasound.

“When I first saw the baby on the ultrasound, I started crying,” Nic told Vogue magazine recently.

“I didn’t think I’d get to experience that in my lifetime. I like the unpredictable nature of it. To feel life growing with you is something very, very special, and I’m going to embrace that completely.”

But the pregnancy hasn’t been all smooth sailing. Hugh Jackman told the mag that Nicole suffered from “horrendous morning sickness” on the set of their upcoming film, Australia.

“But she’s a trouper,” Hugh added. “She put everything on the line every day.”

I’ll bet she’s glad all that’s behind her! Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban are expecting their first child next month.
