Jenny McCarthy Takes on Amanda Peet Over Vaccination Comments

Jenny McCarthy And Jim Carrey Host Green Our Vaccines Press Conference

You might remember Amanda Peet’s explosive comments recently that parents who don’t vaccinate their children are “parasites.” I expected Jenny McCarthy to be up in arms about it, and I was right. Amanda has since apologized for her comments, but that’s done nothing to calm jenny or her supporters.

In the October/November issue of Spectrum, Jenny says “she  has a lot of balls to come forward and be on that side, because there is an angry mob on my side. I like the fact that I can say she’s completely wrong.”

Jenny, who is the mother of an autistic son Evan, recently led a rally in Washington DC calling for the cleaning up of vaccines and a change to the immunization schedule.

The National Autism Advocacy Group Autism United is also calling for a boycott of all Amanda’s movies.

“We want to send a clear message to her,” says Executive Director, John Gilmore. “Our community will not support the continued misinformation that is funneled into the media by organizations like ECBT and the AAP. We are not against vaccines,  rather we are for safe vaccines. Until they understand that, we won’t back down. Ms. Peet’s comments are deplorable and an apology will not suffice. We applaud Jenny McCarthy’s continued efforts and for speaking up for our community.”

Actress Jenny McCarthy has teamed up with pro wrestler John Cena to raise money for families facing the challenges of autism. The unlikely pair will combine their star power for a special taping of Saturday Night Main Event.

John admits that “on paper [WWE's support] does seem awkward,” but he is confident that the two go “hand-in-hand.”

Jenny’s involvement is part of her work with Generation Rescue, a foundation which provides support and advice for dealing with autism through diet control. Jenny’s son Evan Joseph was diagnosed with autism in 2005.

Amanda Peet Talks Motherhood and Vaccinations

Amanda Peet Cookie cover

Amanda Peet opened up about motherhood in the latest issue of Cookie magazine. Amanda and her 16-month-old daughter Frances “Frankie” Pen are this month’s cover girls!

“I thought it would be an extended, blissful romance with me at the helm, cuddling this little creature to life,” the actress admitted. “It’s been bittersweet and humbling to let her lead, and to not try to be perfect myself.”

Many new moms struggle with balancing work and motherhood, but Amanda says for her it’s an easy decision. She believes she’s happier when she’s working, and she’s a better mother for it.

There is no conflict for Amanda when it comes to balancing her home life with her professional life, however; She says that she’s happier when she’s working, and a better mom for it.

“When you’re able to identify your passions, then your child will be able to identify hers. It’s a great template.”

Amanda has also weighed in on the controversial debate about the link between autism and vaccines.

Amanda says she’s not just convinced there is no link between autism and vaccines; she believes parents who don’t vaccinate their kids “are parasites.” Ouch!

“In the ’50s, hundreds of thousands of children were dying from preventable diseases and vaccinations saved so many lives,” she said, “it’s only because you don’t see as many children dying (today) that we don’t worry, but that’s really sad.”

Amanda plans to record a series of public service announcements for Every Child By Two, an organization which hopes to raise awareness of the need for timely infant immunizations.

This is such a touchy subject and it’s been in the news plenty lately thanks to celebs like Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey. It’s so controversial I’m not about to get into a debate about it, but I do think it’s great that there’s another influential star speaking about the other side of the issue.
