Pregnancy was the last thing on Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s mind when she discovered she was expecting baby number three. When she learned the real reason for her fatigue two months into the pregnancy, The View co-host was certainly surprised!

“It was shocking, but a good shock,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “Certainly, you can only plan so much in life.”

But it’s no surprise the mom to four-year-old Grace and 19-month-old Taylor didn’t notice. With too little ones, she rarely has time to think of herself!

“‘Oh you’re pregnant and isn’t this special’ — that all happens with pregnancy number one. After that you’re too busy, you don’t even realize you’re actually pregnant,” she joked. “It’s not as, shall I say, pampered the third time around.”

While she may not receive much pampering these days, Elisabeth is indulging … in junk food!

“I did the cha cha cha diet: chips, chocolate, and cheese straight through, that works for me!” she revealed. She knows that diet leads to a lot of extra weight, but as she always does she knows she’ll work hard to lose those pounds after the birth.

“People ask me, ‘How did you lose the weight?’” she shared, remembering the reception to her rapid weight loss after the last pregnancy.

“I did not lose the weight. I know exactly where every pound is in Central Park that I ran off. I can point to a staircase and say, ‘I ran those thirty times … flight after flight.’ They’re not lost, they’re still waiting for me to find them one day, I’m sure.”

With her husband Tim working for ESPN as an analyst, Elisabeth is calling in reinforcements for the baby’s arrival, scheduled for August 11.

“I’ve already booked out our moms for August. ‘Hey Mom, you’re coming here [and] Betsy, you’re coming on August whatever,” she said. “I have the moms on call because I honestly could not get through that period after [the baby arrives]. It’s hard for me after. I wish it were easy, I’d have 12!”

Even with the help of doting grandmothers and the support of Tim, who she calls an “incredible husband, father, and best friend,” the soon to be mom-of-three frequently gets the guilts about juggling motherhood and a career.

“I’m still always feeling guilty over something,” Elisabeth shared. “They always say there’s a ball up in the air. So, make sure that one’s not the kids. They’re my priority, they really are over everything.”

Fortunately Elisabeth’s brood is always welcome on set. Elisabeth says her co-hosts are “great with kids and my kids love them,” but their presence doesn’t always make things easy!

“Grace will walk into their offices, even with Barbara [Walters],” she laughed. “Barbara is on an important call with, like, Sadat. [Grace yells], ‘Barbara!’ and I’m like, ‘Grace! Come back! Maybe later…”

While we often have to wait for the birth announcements to hit the media, Elisabeth says her fans will probably know first, thanks to Twitter!

“I’ll be tweeting probably right through birth,” she giggled. “Tim asked me, ‘Are you going to tweet through birth?’ I might let people know what’s going on … my screams for help should be heard across the globe!”

Parminder Nagra’s Spicy Pregnancy

March 31, 2009 by lkatulka

Saturday marked the end of an era for expectant mom Parminder Nagra. She said goodbye to her home of five years, ER, at the series finale party.

Parminder isn’t just feeling nostalgic about the time on the show, but her pregnancy too. She said in the early days she craved an interesting assortment of foods, including “frosted flakes and things like filet-of-fish, which I don’t even really eat.”

But the cuisine which really satisfied was Indian.

“I craved Indian food most of all, which is probably going to drive my baby crazy! All that spiciness, but what can I say?”

When your body’s got to have it, it’s got to have it!

Parminder and husband James Stenson are expecting their first child in late May or early June.

Kimora Lee Simmons Talks Cravings

February 22, 2009 by lkatulka

She never really made a formal announcement, but it sounds like Kimora Lee Simmons is ready to talk pregnancy to the press!

She stopped to chat to Usmagazine at last Saturday’s Barbie fashion show about her persistant cravings.

“On the way to the show, I had to have a slice of pizza — New York pizza,” she said. “I think I’m going to have another one after the show, too.”

But it seems Kimora Lee’s parter Djimon Hounsou isn’t very understanding about her need to binge! When she mentioned her need for a slice to her man, she didn’t get the reaction she was hoping for.

“He was like, ‘No!’”

Kimora Lee was at the show to watch her daughters Ming Lee, 8, and Aoki Lee, 6, walk the runway.

“This is a real show - they’ve never done a real show without their mama,” she said. “So, I’m hoping they don’t freak out.”

I’m sure they were complete pros!

Pregnancy Inspires Jill Scott

January 27, 2009 by lkatulka

After struggling with fertility issues, soul singer Jill Scott had given up hope that she’d ever be a mother. But it seems miracles do happen, because she’s expecting a son on April 25.

“It’s so hard to believe, it’s hard to have faith, especially when things aren’t working out,” she admits. “It’s difficult and a challenge when you continuously ask for what you want and need in your life or at least what you think you want and need in your life, but that’s when you have to believe and have faith the most. We didn’t plan for this, but God obviously had other plans.”

Jill’s not experiencing any cravings. In fact, it’s quite the opposite!

“I don’t want anything. I’m having a hard time building an appetite … I have to force myself to eat.”

And she’s doing just that, aware that this new life inside her needs her to be responsible.

“For so long I’ve been able to be carefree — frolicking in my life. I didn’t have to be responsible for anyone else but myself, my mother and my grandmother,” she says. “I’ve been free to do what I want, when I want. Now I have to watch what I eat, how I eat, make sure I get enough rest. Before I was just running and now, I’m so much more responsible and thoughtful and that’s a good thing.”

Jill says her fiancé Lil Jon Roberts is looking forward to starting a family,” but they’re not sure when marriage will be part of the equation. In her trademark relaxed style, Jill’s just happy to take life as it comes.

“It’s funny because I remember one day I was feeling a little down and I said to my girlfriend, ‘I guess I’ve missed my opportunity to be a mom,’ and she responded, ‘No, you just haven’t met the right man yet.’ I’ve always believed that everything on this earth has a rightful key that fits and he was mine.”

Fans of Jill’s music will be thrilled to know her pregnancy has inspired a little creativity.

“I’ve been writing,” she shares. “A lot of things are on my mind…As a woman, I hear better, I smell better, my taste buds are different and I feel so much more like a sexual being than I ever have.

“I’ve learned a lot about men and mothers. I’ve never appreciated mothers this much, or even my mother, until now as I sit in a room with my grandmother, my mother and now my son. It’s truly amazing what’s happened to me and there’s a lot to say and I can’t wait to say it.”

I can’t wait to hear those new songs when the next album drops! But I’m sure we’ll have to wait a little while – Jill is bound to have her hands full with the little one in the near future!

Jamie Oliver Works For His Daughters

January 18, 2009 by lkatulka

Jamie Oliver might be one of the world’s hottest celebrity chefs, but in his own home he takes a backseat to the ladies in his life. He says pregnant wife Jools, six-year-old Poppy, and five-year-old Daisy are clearly in charge!

“The wife is getting more and more control of the house and the two girls have got it all sewn up,” Jamie said, noting that “I work for them now. Did you know that? I work for Poppy and Daisy Oliver.”

Part of that could be because the girls think Jamie’s work is “very insignificant!”

“They are completely unimpressed by what I do. As they get older they are getting cheekier and funnier.”

It remains to be seen whether Jamie has another “boss” when his third child arrives in April. After Poppy Honey and Daisy Boo, I can’t wait to see what they call this one! Jamie assures us it’s all out of his hands.

“Jools has got the names all sussed and she won’t even tell me. She’ll probably call it something like Sunshine or Dewdrop.”

Just as she did with her last pregnancy, Jools is experiencing “a lot of strange cravings. At the moment she is on a lot of everything. I can’t remember seeing her in the past week without something in her hand.”

One thing she won’t try is the placenta recipe Jamie hoped to concoct after the birth!  A dejected Jamie was heartbroken when he heard “they have to take it and do tests on it.”

“I was going to do a chicken liver parfait with placenta, not liver. I was going to get all my mates round to wet the baby’s head and I wasn’t going to tell them - then show them a DVD of me making it afterwards. But Jools wouldn’t let me, she is too sensible.”

It sounds like it’s a good thing Jools is around to rein her hubby in!

Jennifer Garner Enjoys Pregnancy Perks

December 13, 2008 by lkatulka

Jennifer Garner on her daily school run to drop off Violet

Pregnancy hasn’t slowed Jennifer Garner down, with the pregnant actress spending plenty of time out and about with her three-year-old daughter Violet Affleck.

Jen says she’s inspired by her own mother, who was a homemaker raising three children. The elder Mrs Garner wishes she’d worked “just a little bit,” and her daughter is trying to find the same balance.

“Finding a balance that’s right for you is hard when you’re trying to have a little bit of everything,” she said.

“I want to have playgroups and go to art classes and be a part of everything. At the same time, a lot of women have been raised to have a career, and you also want to be a good wife and a good girlfriend and it’s a lot to do. What do I miss? I miss reading and seeing my friends.”

That balance could prove harder to find when Jennifer welcomes her second child with husband Ben Affleck this winter. But for now she’s just enjoying the perks of pregnancy, including indulging her sweet tooth.

“I always have cravings. It doesn’t matter if I’m pregnant or not! I use pregnancy as an excuse to say I’m craving ice cream and chocolate, but really, that’s just me,” she laughs.

I like that tactic!

Alyson Hannigan’s Pregnancy Cravings and Baby Name Game

November 18, 2008 by lkatulka

Alyson Hannigan and husband Alexis Denisof are elated to be expecting their first child

Now that she’s in her second trimester, Alyson Hannigan’s cravings are in full swing. Alexis Denisof says he has to supply a steady stream of pickles, but they’ve got to be just the right ones.

“If I bring the wrong ones home, she won’t touch ‘em. It has to be the exact right ones. They’re the sweet, kosher pickles. They can’t be the pepper, garlic, or whatever — it has to be the right one,” he insisted.

Alexis also let slip that Alyson fibbed to us recently – they know the gender of their unborn baby after all!

“We know the gender, but I don’t think I’m allowed to say. Alyson didn’t give a clearance,” says Alexis.

Alyson and Alexis are already thinking baby names, and have devised a pretty clever system. They both make lists, swap the suggestions, then “start eliminating names from each other’s lists” in the hope of eventually compiling a “master list.” A couple of names that haven’t made the cut are Alyson’s suggestion of Bruce, and Alexis’ pick of Dennis!

Alexis shared that his wife is also in nesting mode.

“As soon as she gets a minute off, she wants to go to a baby store and fiddle with the clothes and look at the cribs. It’s been really fun! Slowly we are collecting onesies!”

The couple will welcome their first child in spring.

Pregnant Billie Piper Not Feeling So Sexy

September 5, 2008 by lkatulka

Showtime & Sheraton Hotels Host Premiere Of "The Tudors" Season 2

Playing a prostitute and being an expectant mother don’t mix. Just ask Billie Piper! The British mom-to-be and star of The Secret Diary of a Call Girl said it was tough to hide her growing belly, and her ravenous appetite!

“I was showing big time,” Billie told The Telegraph.

“I wear tight clothes in this show, so it’s obvious. Plus I was eating like a horse. Being pregnant and filming scenes where you’re having to be sexually provocative - when all you want to do is sit in a corner and eat - that was hard for me.”

Billie and her husband Laurence Fox expect their first baby next month.

Alison Sweeney’s Sweet Tooth

August 31, 2008 by lkatulka

The 3rd Annual Hot in Hollywood Event

Much to her surprise, Alison Sweeney has been craving sweet things during her pregnancy. This sweet tooth is in complete contrast to Alison’s last pregnancy where she hungered after savory things.

For her health’s sake, Alison has turned to fruit to indulge those cravings but she’s still careful not to overindulge.

“I bought a cantaloupe, and I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing. I cut it up and put it in this big bowl and then next thing I knew, half of it was gone,” she told People at the Clothes Off Our Back auction.

But Alison considers herself lucky that she can eat at all. During the first few months of her pregnancy some “brutal” morning sickness made it difficult to eat anything!

“I would order my favorite things from restaurants, and I would get it and say, ‘Get that thing away from me.’ Grilled chicken or tomatoes would be the worst. I would tell my husband to get it away from me. All I wanted was Cheerios - it was all I could eat for two months,” she admitted.

Happily that’s all behind her and Alison’s just doing her best to stay healthy. While she knows that pregnancy is “really the only time in your life that you’re supposed to gain weight,” she’s still making sure she doesn’t gain too much. She’s “addicted” to her Biggest Loser cohost Bob Harper’s spinning class because “everyday is different, and you can shake it up every day.”

Alison and husband Dave Sanov expect a baby girl on January 20. They are also parents to three-year-old Benjamin.
