Dierks Bentley says that becoming a father to five-month-old daughter Evalyn “Evie” Day “has been great for my writing and my playing.”

He’s quick to assure fans that fatherhood has not inspired him to “writing songs about sippy cups and milk,” but that his daughter is a great sounding board.

“The great thing about having a kid is that they eat and then they need an hour of stimulation. So it’s, ‘Great, Evie, let me show you how I’m working on the guitar part for ‘Beautiful World.’ You have a kid, you’ll be playing great guitar in no time.”

Evalyn is the first child for Dierks and his wife Cassidy.

Evalyn “Evie” Day Bentley has her very own bodyguard in the form of family dog Jake. Her country singer father Dierks Bentley says “Jake is so protective. We’ll have friends come over to the house, and they’ll take a step towards Evie, and he’ll just reach up and bite ‘em in the hand. If they try to step closer, he’ll kinda shadow box ‘em. There’s no getting close to Evie when a stranger’s around.”

In contrast, the family’s other dog George couldn’t care less about the four-month-old.

“‘If you can’t pet me, if you can’t feed me, if you can’t take me for a walk, you don’t even exist.’ That’s the way he rolls,” joked Dierks. No matter how different the two dogs are, Dierks says “the five of us now are kinda like a pack of wolves - Jake really believes that.”

“I’ll be havin’ a conversation with my wife about something and, ‘Let’s go upstairs and check on Evie.’ And here comes Jake, right along with us, you know? He’s right there … I look over and he’s sittin’ right next to Cassidy [Dierks' wife], like straight in a line with us. He really thinks it’s like, ‘Hey guys, I’m here too. It’s my job.’”

All men feel inspired by fatherhood, so it’s no surprise that Dierks Bentley penned a song for his four-month old daughter Evalyn “Evie” Day. But his choice of topic is a little left of center!

Dierks figured it was only natural to write about what his daughter loves most!

“‘I love boobs, boobs, boobs. Boobs. Boobs. Boobs.’ ‘Cause she does, she loves boobs. I thought I was a big fan of boobs, but she really likes boobs. But that’s never gonna be released on an album,” he assured us.

Well thank heavens for that! Some things are best kept in the family!

Dierks Bentley has opened up about the recent birth of daughter Evalyn Day. He said it was “amazing” to watch his wife Cassidy deliver their baby on Saturday night.

“She set out to do things - as my wife does - her own way, and she really wanted to do it naturally,” he explained to People.

He said he admired his wife’s determination to have a natural birth, particularly since he wouldn’t have been so strong!

“I would have done it with all the drugs they could find! It takes a strong-willed woman and she was just amazing. You learn a lot about your wife.”

Dierks says fathehood is the “wildest thing” he’s ever done, and admits it’s going to take some time to sink in.

“I’ve got a natural high going. I’ve done a lot of crazy stuff in my life, but this is the wildest thing. It seems like I’ve opened the door to a whole ‘nother universe. It’s like there’s another dimension I never knew existed!”

I’m sure once he’s changed a few dirty diapers and had a few sleepness nights the reality will sink in!

Dierks Bentley is a new dad! His wife Cassidy gave birth to a baby girl on Saturday night in Nashville, Tennesee. Evalyn Day Bentley, or “Evie” for short, tipped the scales at 7 lb. 10 oz.

“She is the most beautiful baby you have ever seen,” the proud papa said in a statement. “Cass did great, and I’m so happy!”

Country music star Dierks Bentley and wife Cassidy are expecting their first child in the fall. Dierks broke the news to members of his fan club through his online journal.

“Mexico has always been a special place for us … it’s where we got married and it’s from here that I want to share some news with you guys first: Cass’ eggo is preggo! We are excited about adding onto the family,” he said.

The couple has been toing and froing about finding out the baby’s sex, but at this point they think they’ll have a delivery surprise.

“Cass and I have gone back and forth about finding out or not finding out whether it’s a boy or girl but at this point, we are keeping it a surprise until it happens this fall.”
