Liev Schreiber has taken time out from filming his new flick, Salt, to spend time with his family in Israel. It’s their first trip to the Middle Eastern country.

Liev and his wife Naomi Watts visited the Jewish National Fund Park in Galilee on Sunday with their sons, 23-month-old Alexander “Sacha” Pete and six-month-old Samuel “Sammy” Kai. The family helped to green the land, planting a tree during their stay.

Liev Schreiber Talks About Busy Boy

May 8, 2009 by lkatulka

In a recent appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, Liev Schreiber admitted that being a dad to two boys under two is more intense than he ever imagined.

He says his eldest boy, Alexander “Sasha” Pete, is “incredibly active.”

“He’s a very physical kid and he’s generally trying to do harm to himself which is something I didn’t know that children did.”

Busy Sasha has been “pretty good” about adjusting to his new big brother status, but unfortunately for four-month-old Samuel Kai, Sasha’s exuberance sometimes gets the better of him!

“I took him to the circus, the Ringling Bros., and I bought him one of those flashlights with the spinning globe on it. And this was one of the first signs that something was really wrong. I brought him home, and up to this point he pretty much ignored Kai, but I brought him this thing, and he walks right over to Kai and he just bonks him over the head with it.”

Ouch!

Cranky Liev Schreiber Says There’s “Nothing Fun” about Two Young Sons!

May 6, 2009 by lkatulka

It always looks like the Watts-Schreiber family are having a good time, but it appears that might be just an act! Liev Schreiber dished the dirt in a recent interview with Time Out Kids.

“I don’t remember the last time I slept like a human being,” he moaned.

“There’s nothing fun about the age they’re at right now. Each one on their own is insanely fun, but the combination of the two of them after hours is chaos.”

Alexander ‘Sasha’ Pete, 21 months, and Samuel Kai, 4 months might be close in age, but they’re yet to share a lot of brotherly love.

“Well, right now it’s just brother-waking-up-brother, which is really the nightmare,” he said.

It sounds like someone was a little tired for that interview. Poor thing!

Sasha Schreiber Hospitalized with Respiratory Problems

April 30, 2009 by lkatulka

Liev Schreiber was notably absent from the red carpet of the Los Angeles premiere of X-Men Origins: Wolverine on Tuesday night. But the actor, who plays Sabretooth in the film, had a good reason for playing hookey. His 21-month-old son Alexander “Sasha” Pete was hospitalized.

Liev immediately left L.A. and flew to New York to be with his partner Naomi Watts, Sasha, and their four-month-old son Samuel.

Sasha was hospitalized overnight for respiratory concerns, but discharged on Wednesday morning.

“Sasha got home today and is feeling much better after being hospitalized on Tuesday night with respiratory problems,” Liev’s rep Ina Treciokas said in a statement.

I’m so glad to hear it!

Australian Living Appeals to Liev Schreiber

April 29, 2009 by lkatulka

Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber may spend most of their time in the Big Apple, but that might not be the case for much longer! As their sons Alexander, 21 months, and Samuel, 4 months, grow the couple find relocating to Naomi’s native Australia more appealing.

“I was able to get into a rhythm and I got a feel for the lifestyle and the quality of life there,” said the 41-year-old actor, who recently shot Wolverine in the country. “It’s just unbeatable, plus if you’re raising kids, I can’t imagine a better place.”

Of course, a move to Australia won’t help Liev escape the dreaded paparazzi. The usually even-tempered actor says the birth of his son inspired his hatred for celebrity snappers.

“I was fine until ‘Sasha’ came along and then I started to get aggro,” he said. “As an actor, I think I’d never kind of reached the heights of fame that Naomi had, and so when she came into my life it was a real test on our relationship.”

“I didn’t like that she was bringing all that attention with her and I think I probably blamed her for it in the beginning. But after a while, I acclimated to it and then, of course, Sasha was born and I had to acclimate to it all over again.”

Liev notes that “some days are better than others,” seemingly resigned to living his days in the public eye.

“As long as people can make money doing it, they’re going to do it and you have to deal with it,” he adds.

With flourishing American careers, it’s likely that no matter where they’re based, the couple will continue to criss-cross the globe for many years to come!

“We’re like circus people, we like to travel. I was really proud of the fact that Sasha had been to 10 countries by the time he was only eight months old.”

That’s more than most of us I’ll wager!

Watts-Schreiber Family Step Out in NYC

Naomi Watts uses her baby stroller as a shopping cart while out having lunch with Liev Schreiber, baby Alexander and a new dog in NYC

Who needs a shopping cart when you’ve got a stroller? New mom Naomi Watts left little Samuel at home and stepped out with her big boys in New York City yesterday.

With one-year-old Alexander happy to sit in daddy Liev Schreiber’s arms, the stroller was free to carry the family’s Whole Foods groceries. They also stopped out for lunch before returning home.

Alexander Brings Out Liev Schreiber’s Silly Side

January 9, 2009 by lkatulka

He might play brooding leading men, but Liev Schreiber couldn’t be further away from his big screen characters. And it looks like 17-month-old Alexander, nicknamed Sasha, is responsible for releasing his lighter side.

Their favorite game sees Sasha hiding behind the arm of a couch. Of course Liev plays along and pretends he can’t see his son.

“I realize that there’s a kind of a divine Buddha truth in that,” Liev told Parada. “I should be doing more things where I’m pretending that I can’t see my son and making him laugh.

“That is for me is the brighter side of being a father, that there is something to be said for silliness. My son has given me that.”

Sasha and his four-week-old brother Samuel have also helped to change Liev’s outlook on his acting career. He admits that it was at one time “a compulsion,” but he’s curbed his workaholic ways.

“I think what I need to do is to stop and get some sense of perspective. It’s not good for me to work all the time.”

I’ll bet the boys, and their mom Naomi Watts, are happy about that!

Liev Schreiber on Baby Watch

December 10, 2008 by lkatulka

Liev Schreiber and partner Naomi Watts are busy preparing for the arrival of his new baby, who might come sooner rather than later!

“Our first baby came early and I suspect this one will as well,” the dad-to-be told journalists while promoting his new film Defiance.

“Life gets a lot busier,” Liev noted. “It also gets a lot more enjoyable in many aspects.”

Liev has been a father to son Alexander for more than a year, but there are still some things he’s getting used to.

“There’s a sort of every day terror you are exposed to that I’m still not accustomed to. You can be pouring yourself a cup of coffee and you turn around and realize your 16-month toddler has the ability to climb two chairs, get on to a dining room table and stand on one foot as he reaches for a lamp. It is just remarkable to me he could do that.”

I’ll bet the new little one will also keep Liev on his toes!
