Mel B Doesn’t Want “Hollywood Kids”

Melanie Brown may be able to give her children every luxury money can buy, but the Spice Girl is determined not to spoil 10-year-old Phoenix and 23-month-old Angel. She says her girls have learned “responsibility early” adding that,

“Phoenix has chores to do and I make sure Angel tidies up after herself,” she says.

She might be raising her little ones in Los Angeles, but she’s taking extra care to ensure they aren’t like all the other kids on the block.

“They won’t end up being Hollywood children, down [at the] shops using mum’s credit card,” she promises.

She might be a tough mama, but her girls do enjoy a treat every now and then. Mel B recently bought Phoenix her “first pay-as-you-go [cell] phone,” but she must stay on top on those chores if she hopes to use it!

“So if she does her chores and is good, she gets pocket money, so she can afford to top it up.”

While Melanie makes sure her girls stay grounded, she adds that they’re also raised with plenty of love.

“My kids are loved — not spoiled,” she shares. Of course she wonders whether her rules will come back to haunt her once her girls are grown!

“If [Phoenix]’s anything like I was, then I’ll be in for quite a ride — I was a big handful,” she revealed.

Uh-oh!

Phoenix is Melanie’s daughter with dancer Jimmy Gulzar; Angel is her daughter with actor Eddie Murphy.

How’s this for an adorable blended family? Melanie Brown and husband Stephen Belafonte took their daughters Phoenix Chi and Giselle to the premiere of The Cheetah Girls: One World on Tuesday. Where’s Stephen’s yellow clothes? He looks like the odd one out!

The family were there to support Mel B’s Dancing with the Stars pal and Cheetah Girl, Sabrina Bryan.

Mel B Wheels Around LAX

Mel B and Angel

Melanie “Mel B” Brown and her cutie pie daughter Angel flew in to LAX Airport on Saturday. Don’t worry, the former Spice Girl isn’t sick. She was apparently just exhausted from walking around in those high heeled boots! The things we do in the name of fashion hey? I’ve lost count of the number of times I wished for a wheelchair after I chose the wrong shoes!

At one point the Spice Girls’ Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham weren’t even speaking. But it seems all is forgiven, with the girls mending their friendship now they’re mellow moms!

Geri has a two-year-old daughter Bluebell, and Victoria is mom to her three boys Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz.

“I have huge admiration for Victoria. She had her boys with her the whole time [the Spice Girls were on tour] and she’s done such a great job with them – they are all so well mannered and caring,” Geri told You Magazine. “Victoria and I are actually the biggest supporters of each other. We feel really proud of one another.”

Well that’s certainly singing a different tune! In the same interview Geri also praised her fellow Spice Girl Melanie Brown’s nine-year-old daughter Phoenix Chi. Geri said the little girl is “a delight” who is “amazing with the toddlers.”

I’m so used to those British popettes being catty to one another! I’m sure this is much more fun for their kiddies though!
