Australian Living Appeals to Liev Schreiber
April 29, 2009 by lkatulka

Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber may spend most of their time in the Big Apple, but that might not be the case for much longer! As their sons Alexander, 21 months, and Samuel, 4 months, grow the couple find relocating to Naomi’s native Australia more appealing.
“I was able to get into a rhythm and I got a feel for the lifestyle and the quality of life there,” said the 41-year-old actor, who recently shot Wolverine in the country. “It’s just unbeatable, plus if you’re raising kids, I can’t imagine a better place.”
Of course, a move to Australia won’t help Liev escape the dreaded paparazzi. The usually even-tempered actor says the birth of his son inspired his hatred for celebrity snappers.
“I was fine until ‘Sasha’ came along and then I started to get aggro,” he said. “As an actor, I think I’d never kind of reached the heights of fame that Naomi had, and so when she came into my life it was a real test on our relationship.”
“I didn’t like that she was bringing all that attention with her and I think I probably blamed her for it in the beginning. But after a while, I acclimated to it and then, of course, Sasha was born and I had to acclimate to it all over again.”
Liev notes that “some days are better than others,” seemingly resigned to living his days in the public eye.
“As long as people can make money doing it, they’re going to do it and you have to deal with it,” he adds.
With flourishing American careers, it’s likely that no matter where they’re based, the couple will continue to criss-cross the globe for many years to come!
“We’re like circus people, we like to travel. I was really proud of the fact that Sasha had been to 10 countries by the time he was only eight months old.”
That’s more than most of us I’ll wager!

The eternally youthful model and her family, including her sons Flynn, 13, and Cy, 6, enjoyed an afternoon bike ride around the beachside Sydney suburb of Cronulla yesterday. They then stopped to do a spot of fishing at the pier as the sun went down.

Jade Goody’s Sons Prepare for Aussie Vacation
March 30, 2009 by lkatulka
The sons of the late British reality TV star Jade Goody are heading to Australia to escape the sadness of their mother’s funeral. 27-year-old Jade passed away a week ago after suffering from cervical cancer, and will be buried next weekend.
Five-year-old Bobby and four-year-old Freddie will leave on Monday with their father, television personality Jeff Brazier. They plan to visit the Gold Coast in Queensland and friends in Melbourne, Victoria.
”To say the boys are excited is the understatement of the year,” a source told The News of the World. ”They keep saying: ‘Daddy, when are we going, when can we see the kangaroos?’ Jeff knows how much they loved their mother but he feels they need to get right away from the media glare. You can’t get much further away than Australia.”
The vacation is in keeping with Jade’s wishes that the boys not attend the funeral. Instead she hoped they would “remember their mum as she was.”
The funeral will be held at a church near her home in Essex, south-east England, on April 4.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Healthy Hiking Habit
February 28, 2009 by lkatulka
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is on a fitness kick, and she’s bringing her “two growing boys” Henry, 16, and Charles, 11, along for the ride!
Julia told Shape magazine that she’s careful to prepare healthy dishes for her sons, adding that she’s “concerned about what goes in their bodies.”
But it’s not all about the fuel. Julia and her family regularly take nature walks, although the boys aren’t always willing participants! She doesn’t blame them though, because she was never a fan of nature walks when she was a girl.
“I would recoil because I hated doing that kind of thing.”
What a difference a few years makes. Now the 48-year-old actress loves traversing the trails of her local parks.
“There’s something about the ritual of moving forward along a trail, pausing every now and then to look at the view or smell a flower,” she explained. “Now, when I mention hiking to my own kids, they’re like, ‘Ugh!’”
But Julia hasn’t lost hope that her enthusiasm may rub off on her boys!
“I’m hoping for a residual effect with them though, and that by the time they’re my age, they’ll love going on nature walks as much as I do.”
Henry and Charles are Julia’s boys with her husband Brad Hall.

Melissa Joan Hart Spills Beans on Sons
January 5, 2009 by lkatulka
Melissa Joan Hart is thinking of family this year as she makes her New Year’s resolution.
“I think my [New Year’s] resolution would just be to find a great home for my family, just to find a good city, a good community, a great house with good schools so we can plant some roots and watch them grow,” she told OK! magazine. The family is planning a move to the East Coast, driven by a love for the changing seasons and a distaste for traffic.
“We want our boys to play in the snow and not to have to explain once a year what rain is.”
Melissa Joan says those boys – nine-month-old Braydon “Brady” Hart and three-year-old Mason Walter couldn’t be more different. Her younger son is “sensitive,” while Mason is a “tough guy.”
“Mason is a daddy’s boy who likes to run around and get beat up,” Melissa explains. “Brady’s a lot more delicate – not delicate, but like, he’s a mama’s boy. [Brady] likes to be held and he’ll play by himself for a good little bit of time but not a lot. Mason loves to play by himself, he’s very independent.”
I wonder who the boys take after!

Sons Come First for Elle Macpherson
October 26, 2008 by lkatulka
As mom to 10-year-old Flynn and five-year-old Cy, Elle Macpherson says family has always come first.
“When the boys were younger, I couldn’t and didn’t want to do anything big. I was the creative director of my Bendon range and worked closely with the designers on the collection and also showed up when we were shooting campaigns,” but, the model says, “most of the time I spent raising the boys.”
The boys may be getting older, but Elle says her priorities remain the same.
“My boys still always come first … I drop them to school, work, then I pick them up and when they are in bed, I start working again.”
She may be glamorous, but Elle insists she faces the same problems any parent does.”I just had my five-year-old refuse to eat dinner, then he didn’t want to go to bed so he’s tired and miserable. Then he finally went to bed sobbing, ‘You’re the worst mother in the world.”‘
It sounds like she’s far from it, and I’m sure Cy will appreciate that when he gets older!

Jade Goody Battles Cancer for Boys
August 28, 2008 by lkatulka
Most moms have needed to broach difficult topics with their kids, but few would have had to talk about the c word. Cancer. So spare a thought for British reality TV star Jade Goody. She was recently diagnosed with second-stage cervical cancer, but has not found the courage to tell her sons Bobby Jack, five, and three-year-old Freddie.
She’s told them “Mummy has a tummy ache,” and is quietly battling the cancer on her own. She told The Sun this is hardest because she has “to be realistic and face the possibility that I might not live to see them grow up.”
One thing she’s not going to do is give up.
“I am going to fight the damn thing every step of the way because I have two beautiful boys who are my world.”
I wish her the very best of luck at this challenging time.
